The CWBA's Inclusive Education and Training Committee is pleased to present Equity in Action: Skills for Lawyers and Leaders, a three-part hybrid training series launching CWBA’s 2026 programming. This series equips legal professionals and business leaders with practical, actionable skills to combat bias, promote belonging, and strengthen both workplace culture and the justice system. Register now for the second program on February 5, 2026.

The series will consist of three hybrid programs, held both in person and virtually to maximize accessibility. Two programs will be led by award-winning anti-oppression coach Regan Byrd, and one program will be presented by Denver District Court Judge Jon J. Olafson in collaboration Alexandria Rogers, a PhD candidate in cognitive psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder. A brief overview of each program is provided below:

From Implicit Bias to Equal Justice
February 5, 2026, 5:30 – 7 p.m.

In collaboration with Alexandria Rogers, Judge Jon Olafson will present innovative research on implicit bias in the courtroom. He will discuss practical strategies jurists and attorneys can use to combat bias, including the novel anti-bias jury instructions he employs in his courtroom and their impact on fairness and access to justice.

Speaking Up: Bystander Skills for Legal and Professional Settings
March 11, 2026, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

This interactive training, led by Ms. Byrd, will teach attendees concrete techniques for intervening to prevent bias-related harm in professional settings. Participants will work in small groups through hypothetical scenarios involving clients, colleagues, and the court, learning how to respond effectively and professionally.
